The staff at Douro Palace Hotel Resort & Spa were attentive and provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants when we wanted to dine outside the hotel's options. the hotel's location is very close to the train station, the Douro river, and vineyards.

By and large, it was reasonable base for sightseeing in Santa Cruz do Douro, had much fun and met amazing staff with our request for recommendations for a local restaurant when we wished to explore beyond the hotel restaurant's excellent offerings. The room was incredible, the location was great remote:)))

Our rooms were comfortable modern with a large balcony and perfect view over the Douro valley, as for instance as expected. The staff were fairly friendly, thanks to them everything was modern. Location: the hotel was not far from a beautiful garden with peaceful corners, public areas and vineyards that looked embrodered on the valley sides.

The comfortable bed and nice position just off a beautiful garden with peaceful corners were lovely. the restaurant and bar were great. the location also allowed easy access to Porto or the other direction along the river. There was a wide range of food options around a 10-15 minute walk from the venue.

A super place to relax. Lovely staff,always smiling always helpful. Very comfortable (if somewhat small) rooms, all with balconies and wonderful views, good food in the restaurant, nice swimming pools. Some reviewers mention the "bad" road leading to the hotel - it's a river valley, what do people expect? We got there with no difficulty and really enjoyed our time.

The hotel was not full when we were there and I imagine the pools could probably get crowded if there were more people around.

A bit expensive restaurant, the hotel is a bit in a remote location but this is also what makes it charm, in the Douro valley with nice view on the river.

The queen room had a perfect view of the Douro Valley, and the facilities were great for us.

Mooi ruim opgezet hotel. In etages tegen de berghelling gebouw. Erg gastvrij personeel. Goede keuken. Mooie ruime kamers met uitermate schitterend uitzicht over de Dourovallei. Tip: alle kamers op niveau 2 hebben 100 % privacy, direct vrij uitzicht. Ook mooie uitzichten vanuit het zwembad. Een echt relaxhotel met prima service. Enig minpuntje is dat het hotel slecht via één tijdrovende kronkelige bergweg bereikbaar is.

Nice enough hotel with good views (avoid 3rd floor) and good looking bedrooms but could use some improvements in other areas.
